Some volumes have subtitle: contentant diverses connoissances curieuses et utiles, pour l'année ..., 1765-1789; annuaire diplomatique et statistique pour l'année ..., 1849-1869; annuaire généalogique, diplomatique et statistique, 1870-1944; annual genealogical and diplomatic reference, <2004->.

The volume for 1808 was published in two editions; the original edition issued with two different title pages. The second issue of the original edition has title: Almanac historique, généalogique pour l'année 1808 and imprint: Leipsic. This edition was almost entirely suppressed after publication. Thereafter, an edition revised by the French appeared with title: Almanac de Gotha pour l'année 1808, and imprint: Gotha : C.G. Ettinger. Fritsch and Chênedollé note the existence of another issue of the original edition with same text but title and imprint matching the revised edition; both consider this the first issue. For an account of the editions of 1808, see: Chênedollé, C. "Napoléon le Grand et l'Almanach de Gotha," in Le bibliophile belge, v. 6, 1850, p. 69-80, and : Almanach de Gotha, 1863, p, xiv-xv.

Getty Research Institute's copy of volume for 1808 is the suppressed ed. with title: Almanac historique, généalogique pour l'année 1808 and imprint: Leipsic. CMalG

Imprint for 1764-1769 supplied from Fritsch.

Edition for 1998 consists of a revival of Vol. 1, part 1 (Genealogy); for 1999 of vol. 1, parts 1 & 2 (Genealogical reference); for 2001 of Vol. 2, part 3 (Families). Color of the vol. binding distinguishes the contents: red contains entries of the sovereign houses of Europe and South America; yellow those of the non-sovereign princely and ducal houses of Europe.
